RESEARCH
Evogen’s expertise lies in a sound understanding of thermal cycling principles and a practical ability to provide new value-based approaches to instrumentation design and proprietary assay technology. The result is an evolutionary systematic set of solutions.
Careful consideration of the needs of biodetection customers and an innovative approach to system design enables Evogen to offer integrated and affordable solutions.
Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are the most abundant form of genetic variation in humans and have been linked to inherited diseases, disease susceptibility and response to certain medications. The developing genetics and pharmaceutical business sectors have recognized the importance of SNPs and have driven the development of technologies that can rapidly genotype patient samples.
Evogen provides value through affordable equipment providing faster more informative results. The full Evogen solution is provided through the HyBeacons® probe technology which was developed by LGC in response to the requirement to distinguish microorganisms and to identify key genetic differences between individuals. HyBeacons assays have been developed for the wide range of targets including key xenogenetic polymorphisms, which determine the ability of an individual to derive therapeautic value from certain prescribed drugs, and for single gene disorder targets such as the Factor V Leiden polymorphism linked to deep vein thrombosis, the so-called 'economy class syndrome'. Such assays can be performed in approximately 1 - 2 hours depending on what you are sampling.
